Happy to have performed before the Vice President Joice Mujuru , who was guest of honor and 231 Chiefs drawn from all over the country’s districts.
The chiefs who were touched by my performance gave me US $ 4 for my splendis show.
This l believe this is a great blessing indeed.

MALINGA PRODUCES 2010 JOSHUA NKOMO CALENDAR

A local poet-musician and ZBC award winning journalist ,Nqobile Malinga has produced a unique picture calendar for the late vice president, Dr Joshua Nkomo which chronicles his life history and seeks to promote unity among Zimbabweans.

Malinga says he was inspired to produce the calendar as a way of paying tribute to Father Zimbabwe whom he describes as a symbol of unity.
The calendar carries Malinga’s poem and song on Nkomo, his pictures and various quotes by people who worked with the late vice president and those who knew him such as Cde Robert Mugabe , Nelson Mandela , Kenneth Kaunda, Simon Khaya Moyo, Dumiso Dabengwa, Thandi Nkomo among others .
Malinga encouraged Zimbabweans to unite and work towards their social and economic empowerment,
The talented multi lingual poet- musician is currently making waves in the arts industry having performed at various social and state functions locally and in South Africa, Zambia and Botswana.

Malinga started the arts with Mpopoma High School Drama Club in Bulawayo which was later renamed Inkululeko Yabatsha School of Arts –IYASA of Banolila and Bum Jive fame.

The musician who performs in more than 10 local languages also revealed that he is currently working on his debut album due for release this easter.

Had a brilliant performance during the Federation of African Women in Media Zimbabwe -FAMWZ Annual Gender Reporting Awards held @ Holiday Inn hotel in Harare, Zimbabwe on December 4, 2009.
Did a song and poem titled “Dear Cousin”, composed in Pretoria South Africa in October last year.
Also won the Gender Sensitive Reporting Award for electronic media.
Thanks to ZBC radio and television staff and management for the support rendered always. This was my tenth nationala journalistic award.
My winning stories were on HIV and AIDS in Mhondoro-Ngezi:
“Malinga’s submission was a news item on a local NGO, E-Knowledge for Women in Southern Africa (EKOWISA) that had done a lot to empower women and men living with HIV in Mhondoro Ngezi by supporting their Home Based Care programme and other social initiatives.” http://www.zimtelegraph.com/?p=4870
The other stories l submitted were about Dudu Manhenga an afro jazz musician who is involved in a number of projects that seek to empower women and the fight against gender imbalances using music.

In 2009 again, l was voted Zimbabwe Union of Journalist –ZUJ -Unicef Child Reporter of the year.

Dear mie,
It is indeed a great honor to write this letter to my self.
It has been three solid days of discussions , deliberations, cries , worries, pain, sorrow and grief to hear others narrate their stories about HIV and AIDS.
l have been touched by these stories and my heart bleeds for them. l have learnt a lot of things , l hope that we become a people that does not discriminate the others.
AIDS is real, we need to care for people living with HIV and AIDS.
Support orphans and the others.
l commit myself to the emancipation of PLWHA’s.
And to you all COUSINS we are together.
I wish the voices of PLWHA’s could be heard .
God please look after mie and my partner and our children yet to come.
One World , One Hope , One Love , One People, One Family.
Together we can develop our Nations.
As l write this mail from Pretoria , South Africa. I am also thinking of those friends , who have died due to HIV and AIDs related illnesses.

BWAZ POETS TAKE PART IN NANGO 2009 EXPO.

Eight BWAZ poets put up a brilliant show during the 2009 National Association of NGO’s Expo in the Harare Gardens held from the 26th to the 29th August.

Neville Nyoni, “Flowchild” Cynthia Marangwanda, Nqobile Malinga, “The Cock” Simbarashe Jongwe, Samuel Mahuntse, Barbara Anderson (see her brief profile in the BWAZ Young Readers Review, Issue No 2), Tinashe Muchuri and Trust Mtekwa took turns to display poetical prowess in line with the theme assigned to each day of the four-day long event. On each day there was a theme which the poets were entitled to adhere to in their performances. On Wednesday 26th, the theme was "Social Justice Delivery", on Thursday 27th the theme was “Human Rights and Transitional Justice” and then on the 28th and 29th the themes were “Constitutional Reform” and “The Zimbabwe We Want” respectively. This year’s Expo ran under the theme “United to Rebuild Our Zimbabwe: Civil Society in Action”. NGO’s from across the country exhibited their products and met with the public to talk about their activities.

The Book Fair Pavilion in the Harare Gardens was a hub of artistic activities as different musicians, poets, drama groups, and dancers shared the stage with the People’s Forum that was part of the Expo where people were free to air their views on what they want in the new Zimbabwe Constitution. It was a peaceful get-together of the civil society community with the vision to rebuild Great Zimbabwe.

Thrilled delegates who attended a Policy Dialogue Workshop held by Zimbabwe National Network of People Living with HIV –ZNNP+ in conjunction with SAfAIDS on August 07 ,2009 @ Harare international Conference Centre-HICC.
This is what ZNNP+ and SAFAIDS said about my performance:

Poem – Nqobile Malinga (ZBC -News Reporter and Poet-Musician)
A powerful and very relevant poem was recited by Nqobile Malinga.
This touching poem entitled “Nqonqo” in Ndebele meaning, ‘knock, knock’ touched upon a wide range of issues that affect Zimbabweans in general and PLHIV in particular. Some of the issues raised included the absence of life prolonging drugs (ARVs) in the hospitals and clinics, the violation of the rights of PLHIV, stigma and discrimination, the plight if orphans and other vulnerable groups. He also spoke about the need for openness as well as the plight of the prisoners. He ended his poem by reiterating the theme of the workshop “MIPA www…” and encouraged those in attendance to strive to achieve MIPA as this was the only way that the fight against HIV and AIDS was going to be won.

What a sweet night l had in Bulawayo @ the Bulawayo Theatre on April 10 2009 when l joined my juniors @ Inkululeko Yabatsha School of Arts -IYASA at the theatre groups' annual awards.

Nqobile On Environment- June 2008

On 3 June Environment Africa fulfilled one of its main objectives- to groom future environmentalists, simply put as ‘catch them young’ at Prince Edward School in Harare. Prince Edward Environmental Protection Club hosted the event, at which participants included Dominican Convent School, Environment Africa representatives as well as a performing artistand journalist Nqobile Malinga.
The schools presented a diversity of topics in harmony with this year’s theme ‘Carbon dioxide, Kick the habit -towards a low carbon economy’.
The children expressed their views on topics that include poverty with most speakers encouraging responsible authorities to facilitate increased productivity in Industry and agriculture to address poverty issues.
Another topic that was tackled by the children is Global warming which they agreed is a disaster that requires urgent attention and action by all.

The event involved a lot of excitement amongst the school children as competitions were held and Prizes were awarded for outstanding performance.
Still on excitement the children had an edutainment session when a performing artist and zbc award winning journalist Nqobile Malinga presented a captivating multi lingual mix of song, poetry and dance solo act that was themed around the business of the day-Environmental care and protection.

This was part of my piece at the Masendu Ward Cultural Festival which was attended by thousands of villagers , from Plumtree,Bulawayo, Harare, and the neighbouring Botswana.
The community was celebrating, its 3rd annual cultural festival.
Traditional dance groups showcased traditional dance routines such as Mhande, Peru, Isitshikitsha, poetry and other dances.
Bulawayo theatre dance ensemble, Hloseni Arts Ensemble, were part of the performers and did not disappoint the Bakalanga.

It was thrilling to perform @ home were l was brought up, at a festival whick seeks to promote and preserve Zimbabwean Culture and traditions, particularly the Bakalanga language and culture.

Had a superb performance @ Indaba Hotel , Fourways, in South Africa on Agust 27, 2008.
Was happy to sing before delegates from more than 10 SADC countries such as Botswana, Angola , Swaziland Lesotho, Zambia , Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe etc.
Was touched by the fact that , l was honored to perform @ this conference , which was organized by a regional organization, Network of African People Living with HIV/AIDS Southern African Region-NAPSAR, http://www.napsar.org/

Part of the poem l performed at a secondary school in Mutare, Zimbabwe on November 18 , 2007 to mark International Children’s Day.
The commemorations were organized by the Victim Friendly Court in conjunction with other stake holders such as children’s organizations in the country.

Children are our future we should give them care and love .
We need to look after orphans and create a better world for them , they need food , education, shelter, medicine and all other basics in life.
Children need to be know about HIV and AIDS because they might have family members who are living with , or who have died from, the disease.
We also need to talk to our children about drug abuse.

NQOBILE MALINGA LIVE @ HIFA 2008

Greetings , Hope that you are doing well.
I had a chance and honour to perform at this year's Harare International Festival of the Arts-HIFA 2008 ,performing alongside some of the renowned artists,
The artists included Chirikure Chirikure, Ignatius Mabasa, Tsitsi Dangarembgwa,Cde Fatso and Chabvondoka Crew supported by Josh Meck on Bass guitar.

The list of poets included regional artists from South Africa, Kenya and Norway.
l performed poems such as Kwakalulama Its Ok-,I miss You , Kenalimang , A song For Zimbabwe among other touching pieces.
My works touched on social , economic , political and religious matters of concern to the human race particularly Africans and Zimbabweans.

MALINGA LIVE IN BOTSWANA 2007

On November 10, 2007 ,I performed at the Botswana Craft Centre , in Gaborone , during the Ndingo Johwa -Sun Set @ Domboshaba DVD launch .

This was one of my greatest shows as l shared the stage with Botswana's sought after musicians such as Shanti Lo,Nono, Nunu,Abraxas Band among others who thrilled the exuberant and supportive audience.

l felt as if l was just at home as l could sing in Setswana , Kalanga and Ndebele with the audience loving my act.

It was great to have Ndingo Johwa doing lead vocals for the song SADC which will be featured on his forthcoming album Tjibhako, with me doing backing vocals and some poetry.

This was my third time performing in Gabs.

l usually attend the Domboshaba festival of History, held annually at Domboshaba Ruins near Masunga.

This is a cultural event for the BaKalanga and other people of Botswana.

Thanks again to all those who support my musik and poetry, particularly Budding Writers Association Of Zimabbwe-BWAW led by Dudziro Nhengu and her team.

I am a young and talented multi-lingual poet-musician and award winning journalist working for Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation –ZBC as a Producer/Presenter,(DJ),Reporter and Newsreader for Radio Zimbabwe, National FM and ZTV.

I am also the founder member of Mpopoma High School Drama Club from Bulawayo, now known as IYASA of Banolila and Bum jive fame.

I perform my music and poetry in several languages such as Kalanga,IsiNdebele, Shona, Xhosa, Zulu, SeTswana, Sesotho,Venda among other Bantu languages, and in English.

I have participated in various SADC countries such as Botswana : Domboshaba Festival of History , Masunga ,Francistown and Gaborone 2005, 2006 and 2007.

I have rubbed shoulders with renowned musicians in the region and backed others ,

Freddie Gwala of Amadama Fame (South Africa).
Ndingo Johwa (Botswana).
Ijuba youth Club(SA) and Albert Nyathi,IYASA, Black Umfolosi,Andy Brown, Chioniso Maraire , all Zimbabwean Musicians.

l have written over 100 polished up poems and songs to date and performed at over 1000 venues since 1992.

I talk about social , economic, religious and or political issues.
l also dwell on HIV/AIDS, gender issues , women and children’s rights among other issues that affect the human race.

l have also recorded my poetry and music with Budding Writers Association of Zimbabwe –BWAZ : “Budding Echoes” a collection of 17 upcoming Zimbabwean Poets drawn from across the country.
Co-wrote six songs for a gospel album with a local musician , Faith Tokwe.
Worked with DJ Phutty On his Masenga Wuku Album.
