Had a brilliant performance during the Federation of African Women in Media Zimbabwe -FAMWZ Annual Gender Reporting Awards held @ Holiday Inn hotel in Harare, Zimbabwe on December 4, 2009.
Did a song and poem titled “Dear Cousin”, composed in Pretoria South Africa in October last year.
Also won the Gender Sensitive Reporting Award for electronic media.
Thanks to ZBC radio and television staff and management for the support rendered always. This was my tenth nationala journalistic award.
My winning stories were on HIV and AIDS in Mhondoro-Ngezi:
“Malinga’s submission was a news item on a local NGO, E-Knowledge for Women in Southern Africa (EKOWISA) that had done a lot to empower women and men living with HIV in Mhondoro Ngezi by supporting their Home Based Care programme and other social initiatives.” http://www.zimtelegraph.com/?p=4870
The other stories l submitted were about Dudu Manhenga an afro jazz musician who is involved in a number of projects that seek to empower women and the fight against gender imbalances using music.
I feel very much honored to have received this award,
We shld work together to fight domestic violence and the spread of HIV and AIDS.
In 2009 again, l was voted Zimbabwe Union of Journalist –ZUJ -Unicef Child Reporter of the year.
